MURA Initiative Makes Strong Showing at SPE Digital Energy Conference 2011
It was hard to walk the exhibit hall at the SPE Digital Energy Conference and not see the letters M-U-R-A or hear about its impact on integrated operations. The Microsoft Upstream Reference Architecture (MURA) Initiative, a collaboration by Microsoft and its oil and gas industry partners, is working to develop an IT reference architecture that will further the flow of upstream information. This week’s SPE event proved to be the perfect venue to address this industry need and meet stakeholders.
Eight members of the initiative, including Energistics, Halliburton, Honeywell, Logica, K2, PointCross, The Information Store and VRcontext, displayed a tabletop MURA pyramid in their booths and highlighted MURA’s progress with attendees.
Brooks & Associates provides marketing and partner communications support for the MURA Initiative.
Also of note this week, Microsoft’s Paul Nguyen presented MURA technical updates at the Esri Petroleum User Group Conference, also in Houston.
